Letter from the Board Chair

Dear La Cima families, students and staff:

Welcome to another year at La Cima Charter Elementary School.  For the last four years, it has been an honor and a privilege to be part of this community as a member of the board and now as the board chair.

The La Cima Elementary Board of Trustees is responsible for governing the school. We support and oversee the work of the Executive Director and the school leadership team.  We ensure the financial stability of the school, set long term strategy and work to protect La Cima's overall health and sustainability.  We serve the entire La Cima community.

The other board members and I feel particularly fortunate to be part of an institution that values our scholars' educational achievement and their development as change makers, leaders and engaged members of this community.  This makes La Cima unique and is worth our continued investment in its success. And, in these challenging times, this shared commitment to the La Cima values is more important than ever.  We've seen these values and our mission on display in classrooms, at community meetings and house rallies, and at school-wide events.

Our goals are lofty and there will always be more work to do to reach the mountaintop.  It will take the whole village and there is a role for everyone to play.  We hope you will join us!  Come to a parent-teacher night, to the next school-wide event or to an upcoming board meeting. We want to keep improving and we take your feedback seriously.

Thank you for joining us in this mission.  We look forward to continuing this climb and building on our prior successes together.

With wishes for a great 2017-2018 school year,

Lucy Joffe
