Welcome
Welcome to La Cima!
La Cima is a K-5 public charter school in Bedford-Stuyvesant, and since 2008 we've built our school around four principles our scholars can name by first grade. Community. Accountability. Reconciliation. Effective Effort. We call them C.A.R.E., and they show up in how we teach, how we build relationships, how we solve problems, and how we handle it when someone gets something wrong.
Scholars run toward this building in the morning. In the hallway, adults get stopped for hugs and high-fives from kids who aren't in their class anymore, or never were. Scholars speak up about what's working and what isn't, and the adults listen.
In our classrooms, scholars are expected to think deeply, ask questions, and do challenging work. Our teachers know every child well because our student-to-teacher ratio is 9:1. Our scholars outperform both the New York City and New York State averages on the state math assessment, and their reading proficiency grows the longer they're with us.
If you're considering La Cima, come visit us. Walk the halls. Sit in a classroom. Ask hard questions. Talk with our teachers and our families. The best way to understand La Cima is to experience it for yourself.
