"…every word and action can send a message. It tells children, or students, or athletes–how to think about themselves. It can be a fixed-mindset message that says: You have permanent traits and I’m judging them. Or it can be a growth-mindset message that says: You are a developing person and I am interested in your development.”

La Cima is committed to developing change-makers in our community who use their education to affect social change. To do this, we must prepare our scholars academically, socially and emotionally. In the era of the Common Core, La Cima has made significant strides in preparing our scholars for career and college readiness. Below are some of our recent accomplishments:

In 2014 and 2015, La Cima outperformed District 16, New York City and New York State on the New York State Math Exam.

For four straight years, from 2014 to 2017, La Cima has outperformed District 16 on the New York State ELA Exam and Math exams.

Since 2013, La Cima has increased the percent of scholars proficient on the NYS Math exam by 19% and on the ELA by 10%.

In 2016, La Cima saw significant increases in 3rd and 4th grade ELA proficiency.

In 2017, La Cima's 4th Graders outperformed New York State in both ELA and Math.

In 2015, La Cima was named a National School of Character, a five-year designation granted by Character.org, in honor of our commitment to developing every aspect of our scholars into lifelong learners. La Cima was also named a Reward School for High Progress by the New York State Education Department.
